Self Transport

For savvy travelers, local transport can be self-organized to reach the resort. Scheduled speedboats and longtail boats run frequently from Phuket and Krabi to two piers on Koh Yao Noi. From these piers, a local “Songthaew” (taxi) or scooter can be hired to reach Jaiyen Eco Resort on the North-west coast. Once at the resort, mountain bikes can also be arranged — a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to motorized transport.

Traveling from Phuket

  • [23 min] Take a taxi (800-900 baht) from the airport to Bang Rong Pier. There is a 10 baht tax per passenger at the pier.
  • Buy a ticket on a speedboat (400 baht pp) [20-25 min] or longtail [40-50 min] boat to Koh Yao Noi.
  • Arrive at Manoh Pier on the south coast of Koh Yao Noi. There may be a tourist tax per person. If you have large bags, hire a local Songthaew taxi to take you to “Jaiyen Resort in An Pao” [10-60 min depending on other passengers to drop off].
  • For experienced riders, if you have minimal luggage, you can also hire scooters directly from the pier (at your own risk).

Traveling from Krabi

  • [45 min] Take a taxi (800-900 baht) from the airport to Ao Thalen Pier.
  • Buy a ticket on a speedboat (400 baht pp) [20-25 min] or longtail [50-60 min] boat to Koh Yao Noi.
  • Arrive on the east coast of Koh Yao Noi at Tha Khao Pier. There may be a tourist tax per person. If you have large bags, hire a local Songthaew taxi to take you to “Jaiyen Resort in An Pao” [10-60 min depending on other passengers to drop off].
  • For experienced riders, if you have minimal luggage, you can also hire scooters directly from the pier.

A note on local transport

For those renting scooters, be advised that the roads on Koh Yao Noi can vary from paved to unmaintained jungle trails, so riding is at your own risk. While it may be fun, renting scooters if you are not licensed to drive one may void your travel insurance if you have an accident.

Local transport provides an interesting way to get around the island and help support the local community, however, these local routes are not for everyone. Speedboats can sometimes get crowded during peak hours and may not be up to some traveler’s expected comfort levels, while longtails take significantly longer (although one saving grace of a longtail is that you can take a scooter or motorbike from the mainland for an additional 200 baht).

Semi-Private Transfers

Private transfers between Phuket Airport/Hotel, Krabi Airport/Hotel and Jaiyen can be arranged with prior notice. Guests will be met upon arrival at their location and will be transferred to the local pier by private vehicle in approximately 20-25 minutes, and then by a shared Speedboat to Koh Yao Noi in approximately 20-25 minutes, followed by a private vehicle to Jaiyen. Our transfer prices are:
Single: 2,000 baht.
Double: 2,700 baht.
Additional guests: 700 baht.

*Private boats can be arranged, starting from 8,000 baht.

Operating Hours and Considerations

  • Prices as of 15th May 2024 (subject to change)
  • Scheduled Transfers: guests will be shuttled with others that have similar transfer times.
  • Immigration, baggage collection, and customs may take 1 hour or longer at the international airport.
  • Boats to and from the island operate at fixed times. Additionally, we can arrange more boat transfers for those seeking to travel to and from the resorts outside of the fixed times, except at night1.
  • For shared rates, additional guests must be traveling at similar times. We reserve the right to combine guests traveling at similar times for the boat trips, even for Private Transfers.
  • Weather plays a large factor in the safety of any transport operation. The final decision to run the transfer is with the responsible captains in charge. It is rare that bad weather sets in for long periods of time. In the event that poor weather prevents the transfer to the resort, we can credit the missed dates toward other available dates.

1 In the interest of safety, boat trips will not operate at night during low season due to a lack of visibility. Due to this restriction, pick-ups from the Airport/mainland hotels operate between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm only.

Please note: if your flight arrival time is after 4:00 pm, we suggest you book accommodation in Phuket or Krabi, or ask us to arrange alternative accommodation for you. This is because the last boat trip to Koh Yao Noi is at 5pm. We can pick you up directly from the hotel/resort you stayed the following day.
